Reedin & Ridin

Reedin & Ridin

By Earl “Lightning” Perkins

Lightning premiered Reedin & Riding in 1954 at a rally in Minneapolis celebrating the Supreme Court decision in the landmark Brown v. Board of Education case.

I got me a book,

The pictures so blue.

I took me a look,

Its got letters too.

Chorus

Oh, I’m a man,

I ain’t got no schoolin.

Oh, I’m a man,

And I ain’t foolin.

Got me

Some reedin & ridin blues.

Little girl so damn smart,

She got to know.

We’s doin our part,

So her learnin ain’t slow.

Oh, I’m a man,

I ain’t got no schoolin.

Oh, I’m a man,

And I ain’t foolin.

Got me

Some reedin & ridin blues.

Black or white,

Don’t matter to me.

Be it day or night,

Learnin got to be free.

Oh, I’m a man,

I ain’t got no schoolin.

Oh, I’m a man,

And I ain’t foolin.

Got me

Some reedin & ridin blues.

Got me

Some reeding & ridin blues.
